Do The Works of Jesus Christ NOW!!!!
John 14:12-13
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
How do you know you are able to do the works of Jesus Christ?
1. You are recreated into the image of Jesus Christ, your identity has been changed from human sinner to a saint, with the nature of Jesus Christ.
Ezekiel 36:26 -27 -> You have a NEW HEART & NEW SPIRIT & plus God gives you HIS SPIRIT aka HOLY SPIRIT. This means your nature is NEW!
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Jeremiah 31:31-4 -> NEW COVENANT – God’s law is written in the heart. Every new creation (born again believer) knows who God is!! If we know who He is, then we don’t need anyone to show us who he is for He has revealed HIMSELF to us. OLD Covenant – God’s law was written on stone tablets in which no one was able to obey perfectly.
31 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Romans 8:2-4 – OLD COVENANT = Law of sin and death -> because the law was good, however, no one could keep it because the nature was too corrupt. Therefore the law brought the knowledge of sin. NEW COVENANT= Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus -> the promise that was fulfilled by Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection was that we get the HOLY SPIRIT. Therefore we walk(way of life) in the HOLY SPIRIT the old covenant requirements is fulfilled in us because Jesus Christ did the full requirements of the OLD COVENANT in HIS LIFE. HIS LIFE is in US NOW, the righteous LIFE of Jesus Christ through the HOLY SPIRIT.
The purpose of the law of Moses/OLD COVENANT (or law of sin and death) was for God’s people to live righteous (meaning being right with God all the time) but the problem was not with the law but with sin. Everyone could not keep the law because sin had control over them. Jesus Christ the sinless Savior obeyed the law perfectly, in that He is completely righteous. It is His righteousness of His LIFE, that we NOW have as a new creation. According to Ezekiel 36:26 we have the new heart/new spirit/and HIS SPIRIT(LIFE) therefore the righteousness of the law is Fulfilled in us.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Romans 5:5 -> God’s law is LOVE, and it is that law that has been written into our hearts, thus this is the NEW HEART mentioned by Ezekiel and Jeremiah. Also it is through the HOLY SPIRIT the recreation of the heart has occurred. So when you repented of your sins, believed the gospel message, and baptized to Jesus Christ and received the GIFT (PROMISE) of the HOLY SPIRIT, you became a NEW CREATION, having the law of God, the love of God poured into your heart.
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Galatians 5:22-23 – This is “walking”(way of life) after the Spirit mentioned in Romans 8:4.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Ephesians 2:10 -> We are also to do the works which Jesus Christ did which was always motivated from His Nature, which is LOVE. Love is an action (not a feeling). Therefore there was actions/good works that Jesus did and since we have been recreated into his likeness because we have His Spirit, His Life in us, we therefore should be doing the same and greater works than what He did.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
You can do the works Jesus Christ did because He gave you POWER to do them. You are capable.
Luke 24:49 -> This is the promise of Ezekiel 36:26. This is available to every disciple of Jesus Christ not just the apostles or “special men” but to every person that has been brought into the kingdom of Jesus Christ.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
John 1:12
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Acts 4:31-33
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
1 John 4:17 -> As Jesus Christ IS, so are WE in this world. Our character should be as HIS and also the power (ability or authority) to do the works He either did or would do in the circumstances we deal with everyday.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
1 Corinthians 4:20 -> The Kingdom of God is inside of us. Jesus Christ is the King of kings, and Jesus Christ gave us HIS LIFE, and with HIS LIFE is HIS Kingdom. We as kings demonstrate the kingdom of Jesus Christ not in word but in POWER. Power is love of God in ACTION.
20 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
Luke 6:40 -> Perfect implies being mature. Maturity is measured not necessarily how much a person can recall scripture, but rather to the extent a person obeys what God told us to do.
40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.
How do I know what exactly to do or how do I know I am doing things right?
1 Tim 3:16 – The bible is our Final Authority in all matters of doctrine, knowing the will of God and how to apply the will of God according to biblical principles.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
John 14:26 -> God, the HOLY SPIRIT, teaches you directly. You read the scripture trusting that God will help you to understand His will for you. Also because you have the word of God in you, the Holy Spirit will bring to remembrance what Jesus has said.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 16:13
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Also as new creations in Jesus Christ, our mission objective is the same for everyone, which is to win souls for Jesus Christ. It is the most important activity for the church, because “Souls matter”. This is the last command of our Chief Commander, Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:18-20 – This is the good works of Christ. Jesus foremost concern was always the eternal salvation of souls and setting people free from every work of the devil. This is LOVE in ACTION or you could say “This is JESUS CHRIST in ACTION“.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Mark 16:15-20 -> If you are doing these things you are working the works of GOD. This is LOVE IN ACTION. This is FAITH in ACTION. This is giving people HOPE in ACTION.
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
LIVE A LIFE OF HOLINESS AND MATURITY
2 Timothy 2:19
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Galatians 5:24
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Hebrews 12:14
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Ephesians 4:15
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
1 John 2:5-11
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8 Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
